The Lone Gale Revolver

My first serious take on the 3D art and design.

The whole picture is supposed to be the on the cover of my novel "Nomad: Ars Caedendi". The gun is fictional and some elements are added only to make this more retro.

The 3D part was made in Rhino, then rendered in 3DSMax and VRay. Textures taken from [link] , some of them were slightly modified to fit my needs. Great site, by the way.

After 1,5 h render I had to make some highlights in Photoshop. Unfortunately, rhino has serious issues, when it comes to making edges smooth / filleting. And Max is something unfathomable to me. If someone knows how to make all the edges smooth, don't be afraid to comment me.

The background is just a plain bitmap done in Photoshop with Spazz Splatter Brushes help. [link]

I made some serious research on revolvers when doing this and I'm sure that this piece would be able to shoot and work properly in the real world, but, unfortunately, I'm not perfect, and if I made some meritorical mistakes, please comment.

Note: You can learn a lot if you try do do something precisely defined without changing it halfway through to make things easier. Of course, I cursed a lot when Rhino was refusing to do what I wanted, but it can be overcome.
Note2: And with this piece I can say that I succeded to make everything that was planned to do in this holidays.
